Need More Focus and Clarity? Try this exercise!

Do you ever feel like you need more focus or clarity? Sometimes life gets complicated and cluttered, and we just need to take a step back, realign our thoughts and goals, and get back into balance so we can take the next step.

Here is a simple breathing exercise you can try to help bring this focus and clarity back into your life:

"Breath of Fire"
  • This is a rapid, rhythmic, and continuous breathing exercise
  • It is equal on the inhale and the exhale, with no pause between them
  • It is always practiced through the nostrils with the mouth closed
  • To begin, raise your arms over your head at a 45 degree angle, keep your mouth closed with your tongue on the roof of your mouth just behind your front teeth, take a deep breath and watch the abdominal area expand
  • Push the air out through the nostrils, and then back in, "pumping" the air in and out, in and out
  • Do this for as long as you can.  Start with 1 minute and work up to 10 minutes (or longer) if possible
A lack of clarity or focus falls under the "Fire Element" in Ayurvedic Medicine.
