"Let Food Be Thy Medicine" - Hippocrates

Hippocrates is considered to be one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine.  He was a Greek Physician who lived from (approximately) 460BC - 370BC.

He is credited with being the first person to believe that diseases were caused naturally - by environmental factors, diet, and living habits - and not by superstition or as a "punishment of the gods" as was the prevalent belief at that time.

I believe this is very relevant to our culture and society today.  I think a majority of people believe that they are sick because they are being punished by God (to learn a lesson?) or that their hereditary factors are inescapable (my Dad, Uncles, Brother, etc. have diabetes, heart disease, restless leg syndrome, etc. so I'll have it too).

If we stop and think about (as Hippocrates taught) environmental factors, diet, and lifestyle (or living habits) - they play a MUCH larger role in sickness and disease than an uncontrollable genetic marker or a punishing God (is God punishing millions of children with Autism, or is it toxins in our environment causing such an outbreak..............)

The above quote from Hippocrates: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" is well known in our culture today.

I believe a lot of sickness and disease can be eliminated by paying attention to what we put into our bodies.

Naturally grown, clean and pure foods can be our medicine!

I encourage you to take some time to explore the possibilities of using food as medicine and to join the path of natural health and happiness.
