Do You Need a Colon Cleanse?

"Any piece of machinery that gets used on a regular basis benefits from a thorough cleaning every now and then.  Automobiles get regular oil changes and oil filter replacements to improve performance and remove collected waste.  The same can be applied to the human body.  Think of your body as a machine that's been running non-stop since birth." - Dr. Hulda Clark

Have you ever tried a colon cleanse?  It is important to keep our organs and body systems as clean as possible for optimal health.

Many people believe that if they have a bowel movement once every few days, then everything is ok.  However, if you are not having a bowel movement at least 1-2 times a day, then this could be a signal that not everything that is going in (what you eat, drink, and consume including medications) is coming out.  If it's not coming out, then it is stuck inside you.

Here are some indications you may need a colon cleanse:

  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Pale skin and acne
  • Digestive problems
  • Poor concentration
  • Bad breath or body odor
  • Constipation
  • Distended abdomen
  • Mid to lower back pain
When we look at options for cleansing the colon, the target it not only to flush out toxins and waste, but to "scrub" the intestine walls and reach all of the folds and "crevices".

This is why it is important to include some type of fiber or "bulk" that will get into the crevices and pick up the waste, and then have other ingredients that will help flush the waste out of the colon.

This is the colon cleanse recipe I recommend - it is simple, inexpensive, and very effective:

1 apple (remove the seeds)
1 tsp. raw, local honey
1 tbspn. Ground Flax Seeds (must be ground or labeled "flax meal")
1 cup purified water
1 tsp. chia seeds

Blend all of the ingredients together except for the chia
Pour the mixture into a glass and stir in the chia
Keep stirring the drink until the chia seeds start to expand (approx. 5 minutes)
Drink immediately

This cleanse should be done for at least 10-14 days
Drink plenty of water throughout the day while doing this cleanse
Diet:  no meats, dairy, sugar, or processed foods.  "Clean" eating with plenty of fruits and vegetables.  Bone broth, ancient grains, and salads with homemade dressings are allowed.

Give it a try - you're sure to feel better!
