Homemade Laundry Detergent - Liquid

Yesterday's blog entry talked about the importance of using a non-toxic laundry detergent due to the fact that whatever is on our clothes is being constantly absorbed into our skin.

The Laundry Detergent Recipe shared yesterday was for a powder detergent, and today I am sharing a recipe for a Liquid Laundry Detergent.

Homemade Laundry Detergent - Liquid

1 Bar Fels-Naptha Soap (grated)
Dissolve in almost boiling water on the stove

Fill up a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 way with hot tap water

Add dissolved soap to the bucket

Add 1 cup each:  Super Washing Soda & Borax

Stir until dissolved

Fill the bucket the rest of the way up with water

Cover

Let stand overnight to gel

Add 2 tablespoons Essential Oils (optional), and stir

Put in containers (pour in using a funnel)

Use 1/8 to 1/4 cup per each laundry load

This 5 gallon recipe costs about $5.00 to make and can clean up to 640 loads if using 1/8 cup for each load (320 loads if using 1/4 cup).
